Hello,
I have installed Pando for the 1st time about 1 or 2 years ago. I did not used
it heavely during all this period of time.
Recently (about 1 week ago), a received a message telling me that version 2.0.3.2
was available, so I downloaded the installation Pando file, an ran it over the previous
version.
During the installation process, my AV detected a following file as being an Adware :
...\Temp\bar.0\P4SRCSP.EXE
I sent this file to my AV chest, and later, tried to uninstall the Pando toolbar, that I
did not want to keep anyway. For some reason, I did not succeeded this operation :
a Pando toolbar entry was still remaining as an option in my browser (Firefox)
In a 1st stage, I removed all the Pando software using the Pando uninstall process.
In a 2nd stage, I tried to re-install Pando, unquoting the toolbar option. My AV did
not detected anything, but I un-installed again Pando (in order to remove the toolbar
entry from my FF, but this did not worked completely well).
In a 3th stage, I installed again Pando, leaving the toolbar option ticked. At this time,
my AV produced the SAME Adware alarm as described above. I could remove the Pando
toolbar entry from my FF using the Windows normal procedure.
I have a few questions :
- why Pando is comming out with a file recognized as an adware ?
- in the Pando forum, there is an article telling that P4SRCSP.EXE is NOT a Pando file :
http://www.pando.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=7898.
so where this file is really comming from ???
I have another problem : with this new Pando version, when I shutdown my PC,
I have a window opened telling me that Pando.exe process cannot terminate, so
I have to do it manually. Is this normal ???
The Pando installation file was downloaded from what I suppose is the official site :
pando.com
Having the same AV detections in 2 similar installation processes leeds me to believe
that Pando might spread some suspect software.
I do not want to be rude, nevertheless, do I have to conclude that Pando might be
dangerous, and/or pando.com is unsafe in some way ? I suspect that Pando tries
to add sideways some unwanted software that one may do not want to have.
My PC : windows XP Pro SP2
